The Association Agreement of Brown Coal Manufacturers

Brown coal is a safe and economical power source. Modern tendencies concerning fuels and the production of electric and thermal energy clearly indicate that both brown coal mining and the power industry based on this type of fuel play an important role in the fuel-energy balance of the country; besides, considerable resources of brown coal guarantee the country's power safety for a long time.

Therefore, in February 1992, in order to guard the well-being of opencast mining of brown coal - the cheapest fuel - The Union of Employers: The Association Agreement of Brown Coal Manufacturers (Związek Pracodawców Porozumienie Producentów Węgla Brunatnego, PPWB for short) was established. Its aim is to take up activities enhancing the broad development of its members, the development of brown coal business, the multi-directional exploitation of brown coal as well as the reduction of negative influence which the mining industry exerts on the environment.
